Research Initiatives

The Department of Biotechnology, School of Engineering and Technology, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) actively promotes research-driven learning through the establishment of specialized facilities, interdisciplinary collaborations, conferences, and student-led research initiatives.

Institutional Medicinal Garden – “Eden of Elixirs”

Dr. Nidhi Didwania established the Institutional Medicinal Garden “Eden of Elixirs”, supported by the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) and Manav Rachna Centre for Medicinal Plant Pathology (MRCMPP). The facility supports research and education in medicinal plant biodiversity, phytochemistry, and plant pathology.

Model Organisms Facility

Dr. Jayant Maini and Dr. Vineeta Sharma established the Model Organism Facility, including a Drosophila culture facility (2023) and a Zebrafish culture facility (2026) to support research in genetics, developmental biology, toxicology, and disease modeling.

Microalgae Culture Facility

Dr. Kapila Kumar and her research team established the Microalgae Culture Facility in 2024, enabling research in algal biotechnology, bioresource utilization, and environmental sustainability.

International EARTH Conference 2025 Participation

Dr. Vineeta Sharma, Dr. Jayant Maini, and students from B.Tech Biotechnology and B.Sc. Microbiology represented the Department at the EARTH Conference 2025, showcasing student-led research and interdisciplinary scientific engagement.
