Overview

The Department of Biotechnology was established in the year 2002 under the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS, NAAC Accredited ‘A++’ Grade Institution), a Deemed-to-be-University under Section 3 of the UGC Act (1956).

The Department of Biotechnology aims to develop competent biotechnologists equipped with advanced processes and applications to transform agriculture, industry, healthcare, and environmental restoration, thereby delivering a sustainable competitive advantage to modern society.

The Department of Biotechnology has been accredited twice by NBA in 2018 & 2023.

The Department of Biotechnology offers B.Tech and M.Tech courses in Biotechnology, M.Sc in Biotechnology and B.Sc and M.Sc courses in Microbiology. The Doctoral program of the Department offers Ph.D degrees in various fields of Biotechnology and Life Sciences.

The department possesses an international collaboration with the University of Nottingham, England. Students will be awarded degrees in B.Tech Biotechnology from MRIIRS,Faridabad and B.Sc. Hons Biotechnology from Nottingham. Students will experience an International competitive environment and will possess the combined degree.

The Department has highly qualified teaching faculty with Doctoral and M.Tech qualifications in different areas of Biotechnology. Faculty members are consistently involved in quality research. Their dedicated efforts have resulted in more than 400 publications in National and International journals of high repute.

Huge funds are being mobilized in different areas of biotechnology such as agri-biotechnology, horticulture, food science and initiatives by Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and Department of Science & Technology (DST).
