The students and faculty of the department participate and present their research work at various national and international conferences. Many of them have gathered accolades.
Prof. Nidhi Didwania and her team won the C-CAMP National Bio-Entrepreneurship Competition (NBEC 2025) held at Bengaluru from 20th–22nd August 2025. Out of more than 3100 applicants nationwide, securing a place in the top 16 and receiving ₹50 lakhs in funding for their pilot project along with investment from Social Alpha. The event was graced by Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chairperson, Biocon, as Chief Guest.
Prof. Nidhi Didwania won the National Tomato Grand Challenge held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. She received Prize Money ₹3,00,000 on 5th December 2024 and ₹25,000 on 18th July 2024 by Ministry of Education – AICTE, MOE Cell and Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution.
Ph.D. Scholar Samiya Baby (under the mentorship of Dr. Vineeta Sharma) received the Best Presentation Award (Life Sciences) at AIIMS Jodhpur during the 6th Science Conclave cum NBRCOM (National Biomedical Research Competition) 2025.
Prof. Kanchan Bhardwaj received the Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Bharat Bhushan – National Education Excellence Award for her outstanding contributions to education.
Professor Nidhi Didwania, Director of the Manav Rachna Centre for Medicinal Plant Pathology (MRCMPP), Department of Biotechnology, MRIIRS, received the Excellence in Teaching Award at the 10th Asian PGPR Society India Chapter National Conference on “Fostering PGPRs for Secondary Green Revolution towards Soil and Crop Health Management.”
Dr. Somya Asthana, Assistant Professor in Biotechnology, received the Leadership Award – Research Supervisor for her guidance in the research titled “Fabrication of Zingiber officinale (Ginger) and Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha) nanoparticle modified scaffold and its antimicrobial activity and wound healing effect.” The award was presented by Sunpure Research Incubation Centre on 22nd Dec 2025.
Dr. Nidhi Didwania & Team received a prize of ₹25,000 in the National Tomato Grant Challenge Competition for the project “Tomatolixir: Remedy for foliar pathogens in Tomato at low cost.” The competition included over 3,000 ideas across India and was organized by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution with AICTE and Ministry of Education.
A Research Grant of ₹50,000 was awarded for an innovative project at BioConverge: International BioE3 Conference and the 7th Annual Meeting of the Society of Chemical and Synthetic Biology (SCSB) held from 6–8 Oct 2025.
Dr. Charu Rajpal, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology at MRIIRS, received the prestigious Young Scientist Award at the International Conference ICAR-APRPB 2026 titled “AI-Powered Revolution in Pharmaceutical & Biological Sciences.”
Dr. Nidhi Didwania was elected as a Fellow of Mendelian Academy of Sciences (F.M.A.) on 30th July 2024.
The team comprising Yachna Soni (BSc Microbiology) and Anushtha (MSc Biotechnology), mentored by Dr. Kapila Kumar, Associate Professor and Director, Molecular Biosciences Research Cluster, represented MRIIRS in the North Zonal Anveshan Competition organized by the Association of Indian Universities and won in the Basic Sciences Category.
