The Department of Biotechnology, School of Engineering and Technology aims to develop competent biotechnologists with strong knowledge of advanced biotechnological processes and applications, enabling them to contribute to innovations in agriculture, industry, healthcare, and environmental sustainability, and thereby address emerging societal and global challenges. The following are the regular practices undertaken by the Department:
The B.Tech Biotechnology program at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) is designed following an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework. The curriculum integrates fundamental sciences with modern biotechnology, preparing students with the technical knowledge and analytical skills required by the biotechnology, healthcare, and research sectors.
The department is supported by highly qualified faculty members with doctoral qualifications and strong research backgrounds. Faculty members actively contribute to scientific advancement through extensive publications in reputed national and international journals and participation in collaborative research projects.
Students receive extensive practical training through well-equipped laboratories, including: Molecular biology and Genetic engineering Laborator, Plant Biotechnology Laboratory, Bioprocess Technology and Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory, Biochemistry and Bioanalytical Techniques Laboratory, Molecular Bioscience Research Cluster and Manav Rachna Centre for Medicinal Plant Pathology (MR-CMPP).
The Corporate Relations & Career Development Centre (CRCDC) at MRIIRS maintains strong industry connections and supports student placements. Regular industry interactions, internships, and skill-development programs help students prepare for careers in biotechnology companies, research laboratories, and healthcare organizations.
Students are encouraged to participate in research projects, Design Thinking Innovation (DTI) initiatives, and project-based learning activities. These experiences develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and innovation capabilities required for research and entrepreneurship.
Graduates of the program are prepared for diverse career pathways in biopharmaceutical industries, diagnostics, agricultural biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, healthcare, and academic research. The program also provides strong preparation for higher studies and international research opportunities.
