It is a multidisciplinary undergraduate programme that teaches how science supports crime investigation and the legal system. Students learn how evidence is collected, tested, interpreted, and reported. The course blends core science with investigation methods, basic law awareness, and lab-based learning for real forensic work.
The planned start is July 2026, aligned with the 2026–27 academic intake. Since it is being introduced as a new offering, the first cohort gets early access to the programme structure, labs, and mentoring setup. Final dates follow the university’s published academic calendar.
The programme focus is practical and future-facing. Along with crime scene work, students learn how modern labs support investigations through DNA basics, digital evidence handling, and cybercrime concepts. The curriculum is built around applied training, internships, and exposure to legal procedures and reporting standards.
It follows the 3 +1 year undergraduate structure aligned with NEP and UGC’s multi-entry, multi-exit framework. Students can complete 3 years for the degree, or continue into a 4th year for advanced learning and research-oriented work, as per the programme design
Students get regular hands-on work through lab sessions, case-based assignments, and crime scene simulations. Practical training includes evidence handling, basic forensic analysis methods, documentation, and report writing. Field exposure and internships add real-world learning, so students understand how forensic teams work in practice.
Graduates can explore roles in forensic laboratories, crime scene support teams, private investigation support services, and research or higher studies. Common directions include forensic assistant roles, evidence documentation, lab analysis support, toxicology and biology labs, and digital forensics support, depending on skills and hiring requirements.
Yes. The curriculum includes digital and cyber-focused learning so students understand how devices, networks, and online activity create evidence. Topics generally cover Digital Forensic Investigation, Ethical Hacking, Mobile Hacking, Malware Forensics, Incident Handling, AI & Machine Learning for Forensics, and the use of analytics tools. This builds readiness for modern investigation environments.
Yes. Internships are included to connect classroom learning with real investigation and lab workflows. Students typically get structured internship opportunities across different stages of the programme, which may include forensic labs, investigative environments, cyber-focused teams, or research settings, based on availability and institutional tie-ups.
This programme fits students who enjoy science, observation, and logical problem-solving, and who want to understand how scientific evidence supports justice. It is a strong match if you are curious about crime scene work, lab testing, cybercrime, or investigative reporting, and prefer learning through hands-on practice.
Early cohorts often benefit from closer academic attention, stronger access to faculty guidance, and better visibility in program activities. Students also get more chances to take initiative in clubs, labs, and projects. It can be a good fit for learners who like building something from the start.
The B.Sc. (Hons.) Forensic Science programme focuses on the application of scientific principles to crime investigation and law enforcement.
